We've Been Quiet A While...But Not Idle!
Burners get restless before too long. Our most recent event at Burn2 was Burnal Equinox "Between the Stars" at the beginning of the month. That was so much fun, we made new friends among displaced burners who came in to check things out. The burns were great!
We had a thank you party for all the volunteers who did so much to make that weekend one to remember! Everyone played a part - whether as singer, DJ, artist or builder, greeter or fashionista - in any capacity that you contributed, all volunteered valuable time and energy to make such a fantastic event for the whole community to enjoy.
A Pandemic...and Summer Plans
Because of the global pandemic we have seen many events get cancelled all over the default world. They are moving online, going virtual. Our community has been doing this since before 2010, and so we are in for a busy summer.
The Burn2 planning committee have been meeting and well, planning! We've received requests from groups seeking to set up virtual events. Burn2's Regional Contact, SuperSuz has been fielding many of these requests. We're going to collaborate with some groups. It's very exciting. There's been more interest as displaced burners learn about Burn2, and how we've been a virtual regional since 2010. And that means several opportunities for our seasoned performers and artists to take part and say, "Welcome Home!" to visitors from all worlds, both default and virtual.
HouseFire "Inner Worlds" June 5-8, 2020
The first weekend in June, we will host HouseFire "Inner Worlds" on our playa. This group will be running their event on multiple platforms, and they've asked if they could also come to our virtual playa. We will set up some familiar things, like the Lamplighters Village, Rangers Camp, stages, art cars and some popular games - even a porta-potty or three! And, of course - Burns!
We also love the sound of great tunes filling the air through the weekend - performers and DJs are invited to sign up to play as well! We'll have a stage ready soon. If you've played at Burn2 before, you know the drill - book your slot, mark your calendar, and get ready to perform!
If this will be the first time you perform at Burn2 as a DJ or live performer, you can sign up for your slot - but then you will need to note on the form that you have not played at Burn2 before. There is a bit of prep you will need to do, to successfully stream your music into SL, and we have people who can help!
Burn2 at SL17B
We have a small team of builders working on an exhibit that will be at SL17B - the theme is Vacation and Road Trip - and that build is shaping up quite nicely! Be sure to visit the Burn2 exhibit at the Second Life Birthday event, between June 19th and July 12th.
Precompression June 20, 2020
June 20th, there will be a one-day Precompression event, at which we will do something similar to what we are doing with HouseFire. We're well experienced in setting up and running these sorts of events in Deep Hole. More details about that to come soon.
Burnstock July 24-26, 2020
The weekend of July 24th-26th is Burnstock, our annual fundraising weekend party. A stage will be in place in time for that - but performer signup is already open!
Virtual BRC August 2020
In August, there may be opportunities for Burn2 to collaborate and/or participate in "virtual BRC", either in SL or on other platforms. More details will come out as plans get firmed up.
Octoburn "The Multiverse" October 2020
September and October we will be gearing up for our "Big Burn" event - more about that later.
Conception 2020 is Cancelled
You might have noticed, you might even have been thinking, "What about Conception? Wasn't that supposed to be around the middle of July?" Given all the other activities we will be involved in this year, the planning committee agreed to cancel Conception for this year. We have so much else to look forward to this year!

Plots for this event are free, but limited in number - sign up soon! You may use a past build as long as it fits the size and LI limits and comply with the Ten Principles of Burning Man and Second Life's ToS. It can be an art installation or a simple camp - your choice! Building to theme is optional.
