Camp Una Lux: KODAMA

CAMP UNA LUX: KODAMA 木霊

A forest takes root in the open desert.

Inspired by the Japanese folklore of kodama—spirits dwelling within ancient trees—Camp Una Lux explores the meeting of nature, imagination, and human connection.

At the heart of the camp rises SHINBOKU — The Sacred Tree, a monumental kinetic sculpture crowned with crescent-shaped metal blooms. Its elevated stage overlooks the surrounding grove, bringing music, light, and movement into the open air.

Beneath and around SHINBOKU stretches YŌKAI COMMONS, the camp’s shared gathering ground. Smaller sculptural trees offer shade, seating, elevated dance platforms, and occasional fire and light. The open clearing welcomes dancers, wandering visitors, art cars, and spontaneous encounters.

Opening onto the Commons are two rustic Japanese-inspired buildings, each offering a different experience:

URAROJI — The Back Alley houses an intimate, roofed performance stage for adventurous music, experimental sounds, and close encounters with creative expression.

YORIMICHI — The Detour is the camp’s sake, noodle, and gaming house—a welcoming place to settle in, share conversation, and enjoy the pleasure of lingering.

Together, these spaces create a small, interconnected village: a central gathering place, a monumental stage, and two quieter destinations to discover.

Throughout Octoburn, KODAMA will unfold through music, performance, art, light, and spontaneous encounters. Some moments exuberant, others contemplative. Camp Una Lux: KODAMA is a place to gather, wander, and listen.

Even in the desert, the forest has a voice.
