Every year, in Black Rock City, art is found all across the playa, made of metal, paper, wood, sound.

Burn2 Burners and participants continue the tradition of echoing Black Rock City with the same art theme: Curiouser & Curiouser. This year's theme "...celebrates puzzles without answers, embraces the irrational and the absurd, and invites the unknown over for tea. Because it’s in those timeless moments of not knowing, when we’re consumed entirely by curiosity, that we experience our most profound learning, growth, and creativity."

Enter HEARTery, which is a program of Burn2 to bring delights of imagination in the form of 2D and 3D art on the virtual playa.

What can be brought to such a hostile, barren desert space? That is up to YOU. What can you create that sits on the desert floor, under brutal sun, through dust storms, and at night comes alive with lights, even fire? Your creativity, your passion, your interpretation of the theme is what we all look forward to discovering at Octoburn!

Artists, get out your tools and pencils! Deploy your mice and keyboards to form your next works of imagination. As fanciful as you may get, don't forget to stay rooted firmly in the 10 Principles of Burning Man and within the Terms of Service, Community Standards and Maturity rating of Burn2's regions. Guidelines are provided to help also. "But limitations!" some may say. We say, "But oh, such creativity within constraints!"

Picture yourself on an ancient dried-up lake bed with mountains surrounding the playa. It is a hostile, water-scarce, dusty, windy place. How would you build your art and how would it stand up to those elements? You can see some great examples of art from this year's RL Burning Man event at the bottom of this page.

We encourage you to build within this year's art theme: Curiouser & Curiouser.

We also have builder guidelines and Octoburn FAQ. There are important differences for our 2D and 3D artists, regarding plot size, height max and LI limits. These are granted on a case-by-case basis and depending on the location where the art will be placed.

We also expect compliance with the following policies:
Linden Lab Terms of Service and Community Standards;
Maturity Ratings;
Burn2 Child Avatar Policy;
and the Burn2 Adult Content Policy.

Our community is centered around the 10 Principles of Burning Man.
