What personal data we collect and why we collect it
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Likely image uploads would be graphics submitted for virtual events held by BURN2. Refer to BURN2’s infrastructure policies, found here: https://burn2.org/policies/infrastructure-policies/.
When you fill and submit using the forms on our website, you are voluntarily giving us some personal information through those forms. Such information may be your name, virtual name, and/or email address, which will be used for contacting you as part of followup to your submissions. We do not sell the information we collect to any third parties. Some examples of how we use that information include:
- When you sign up to participate in a team within BURN2, we will contact you using your provided information.
- When you participate in a discussion on our website, we retain your information in order to maintain your membership in that discussion.
