Illumination Village

llumination Village is the oldest village in Black Rock City, founded 29 years ago. The village is comprised of several small camps, each adding its own unique contributions of art and gifts, brought together to form a community of over 200 burners. At BRC in 2024, Illumination Village had the honor of occupying the “keyhole” at the corner of 3:00 and Esplanade, where the village was front and center for all participants to enjoy. Illumination Village debuted at the Burn2 Octoburn event in 2023 and now returns for it’s second year. The Burn2 camp is a replica of the camp that Illumination Village presented to burners at the 2024 BRC event. Everything in the camp has a version in the real world. At the front of the camp is a “fire garden” filled with various fire and LED art pieces built by different artists within the IllVille community. Each piece combines fire, LED lighting, and creativity to tell a different part of the Illumination Village story, as well as offering participants a place to gather and play among the flames. Behind the Fire Garden is the art car parade, a circular driveway showcasing the various art cars built by village members. In addition, the village offers burners a bar, a steambath, free showers, and a lounge area as more space for Burn2 participants to gather. Each of the art pieces, the art cars, and the lounge areas are replicas of actual installations a participant could enjoy at BRC and now available to Burn2 participants as well.
