You can send your (full perm, please) entries inworld to Daark Gothly or iSkye Silverweb, who will upload them for you.
Editor's Note: When uploading your posters, please mark your image safety level as "safe" - otherwise, our Burners who do not have Flickr accounts will not be able to see your gorgeous creations to vote on them!
Deadline for poster submissions is 20th November 2016.
Voting for best posters will be from November 21st through 30th (closing 11pm SLT/Pacific time). Selection by those present at the weekly planning meeting at BURN2 in Deep Hole on 1st December at 9:00pm (21.00) SLT.
After the great fun we had at Da Vinci's Workshop followed by the Skin Burn, we are now looking ahead to our next event. We've come up with a theme and dates, and we will continue to plan in the coming weeks.
Here are the details as we know them now:
EVENT THEME: Fire Moon The first New Moon of 2017 will be on the 27th of January, which coincides with the Chinese New Year on the 28th, bringing in the Year of the Fire Rooster.
This ignited (pun intended) all sorts of wonderful ideas in the minds of the Burners present at this week's planning meeting, the pairing of the moon on fire and the fire rooster, the new year, a new beginning....I'll bet you feel a touch of the same excitement, yes? We hope so!
There's been a lot of fun conjecture at the last meeting: "Hmmm, what shall we burn..."
EVENT DATE: January 27-29, 2017 The event itself will run through that weekend, with builds being left up for the following week. Opening time on the 27th - up for discussion. We'll likely do a burn as is our custom, on Sunday the 29th (that can also be decided in a future planning meeting). GTFO deadline will be Saturday 4 February 2017, 11:00pm SLT (23:00 SLT).
We are talking about passing out burn kits during the build period, to allow those who come to build on plots to script their builds to burn on GTFO day. Perhaps we'll have builders schedule their burn times to let people know when to come and watch. That can be decided in further planning.
LOCATION: BURN2 on Deep Hole As usual we will have the Deep Hole sim, plots to build on will be free. We have not yet determined number of available plots, their sizes or the prim/LI limits for plots. That will be determined in planning later.
HELP NEEDED! We are looking at forming up teams, we seek volunteers to help in various roles. If you've got some experience with certain things, we'd love to have you on board. Some of the teams we'd like to see:
Burn Build - lead (co-leads?), builders, scripter(s) -- This team will build and script to burn, the Burn object that the planning team and Burn team agree to burn
Stage Build - lead, builders, scripter(s) -- This team will build the stage to the theme of this event
Performance - lead (co-leads?), stage hosts -- This team will schedule DJs and live performers, utilising the stage that will be built for the event (unless there is some special need)
Plot Builders Liaison - lead or co-leads -- This team will work with Huntress Catteneo in assigning builders to plots, assisting builders with questions and other details related to plot builds
Greeters - If you're already in the BURN2 Community Volunteers group, awesome! Contact Freia Guillaume if interested in greeting. If you are not in the group already, let Freia know you are interested in helping to greet!
Communications - help get the word out about the next event when we start to promote it, especially on social media. Contact iSkye Silverweb if interested.
Builders/Artists - YOU are important too. There's no "us" without "u"!! Get ready to sign up and start building when plots are ready, probably early January.
BURN2 PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETINGS MEET WEEKLY
Every Thursday night at 9:00pm SLT (21.00 SLT) on Deep Hole sim, on the yard next to the HQ, across from the Burniversity classroom. Come join us!
If you cannot attend the meeting, drop a notecard on iSkye Silverweb inworld and tell of your interest. You'll be there in spirit if not in pixels!
REMINDER - A Quick Favour Please! If you were at Da Vinci's Workshop in October, please take a few minutes to fill in the SHORT survey. It's just 4 or 5 questions, and we could use your feedback to help improve for the next event!
In the same way that all events must come to an end, our annual Octoburn event called "Da Vinci's Workshop" is now closed, and our Skin Burn decompression event is also done. The playa is restored to its usual dusty condition.
We hope you attended and enjoyed Da Vinci's Workshop, and now we ask for your help to improve future events.
We have a short post-event survey to get your feedback. Please find the survey at this link:
