Infrastructure

Kim Chihuly — Tue, 09/20/2011 - 07:20

Takes a lot of cables and pulleys and generators and forklifts to get the burn off the ground. And who thought it was a good idea to make things beep when they back up - they're huge pieces of machinery for goodness sakes, we can SEE them! Anyway, sorry for the rant.....

Here are some shots of the infrastructure of this year's Burn2 event that I noticed as I was flying around

Old School Infrastructure - these lamps light the main roads on the playa and their flickering flames make such a warm glow. Be sure to look for the lamplighting ceremony when you come to Burn2

High Tech Infrastructure - Solar panels on top of giant packing cases help power essential services on the playa including all the sound systems

Old Meets New - satellite dishes and antennas look down on port-a-potties (and who agrees that all port-a-potty enclosures need racing flames! looks awesome)
